In his end-of-year news conference Wednesday, McGuinty confirmed he and Harper had resolved their disagreement over seats in Parliament when they met in Ottawa last Friday.There had been some ongoing confrontation on the matter, with the Conservative government initially only offering 10 new seats to the province, and arguying that it should be satisfied considering Ontario would only have received 4 new seats under the previous formula.
"I spoke with him about that and I think we've fixed it," McGuinty said when asked if the seat issue had come up during their meeting.
Announced last year, the seat attribution formula is being revised through proposed federal legislation, to reflect growing populations in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
Ontario would go from having 106 seats, to 127.

So are the Conservatives going to apologize to McGuinty for calling him the "small man of confederation" now that they are giving him what he had asked for, namely Ontario's democratic proportion of elected representatives?
I'm not holding my breath on this government ever doing anything decent and responsible, unless forced to.
You forgot to mention that BC and Alberta will get another 12 seats as well.
I think Harper held back on Ontario because he didn't want to upset Quebec. Now, he just doesn't give a rats ass.

Gee Ted - do you think McGinty is going to apologize to Flaherty and Harper for trash talking them for suggesting that maybe he should review the tax structure for business in his province. Seems like if he had done that - maybe your province wouldn't be a Have Not.
Stephen Harper has NOTHING - do you hear me - NOTHING to apologize for.
The Liberals however should be apologizing to every Canadian worker for taking money from our pockets to pad their budget surpluses.

Please show me where McGuinty made personal insults about Stephen Harper, Jim Flaherty or any other Conservative.
All I am saying is that it was wrong for the Conservatives to call McGuinty the "small man of Confederation" for wanting rep-by-pop and they have basically admitted they were wrong by finally addressing Ontario's democratic deficit in the House of Commons.
So yeah, I don't think personal insults are appropriate for federal or provincial politicians. Obviously, you disagree which is your right, revealing as it is.
I think both Harper and McGuinty will take the high road on the seat redistribution. I don't expect to see anyone pandering for an apology.
For the Conservatives, had the seats been distributed proportionately by population, the Conservatives would have received 146 seats instead of 143. If the news seats go to the growing suburban areas, the the Conservatives may pick up a greater percentage of the seats.
